crazytalk 4.0 demo - 1.23.2006
so i've been researching some text-to-speech/voice recognition/voice animation technologies for a few ideas that i've been throwing around, and i came upon crazytalk. it's pretty hot. you basically take a digital photo and animate it, adding points in mocap(motion capturing) fashion. you can then layer voice overs and animations. it works rather well for a simple program. didn't work so well on other lower resolution pics though... here's a demo that took me about 1.5 mins to prepare:

aatf - 5.20.2005
this is perhaps the cinematically tightest film that i've worked on with mr john haggerty. when you see it on dvd, it's actually a really insanely professional package. john and i are both proud of this. it's actually funny -- we started working on this one night early in our spring 2005 semester. here's a little log:
.~midnight - we decided to make a film
.~12:30am - finally came up with a random idea and started filming
.~5:30am - finished filming
we then put it aside for awhile, and then about a month later, john urged me to start editing it with him. he did most of the first edits, and then i did clean-up and polishing. we then went through and added special effects, sfx, etc. finally, i created a dvd package for it (menu, etc) and then voila, it was done. we spent about 3 months on it, but in actuality we probably only spent 1 or 2 weeks total. btw - this was featured by my professor(the great kathy high) in one of her courses in hong kong this past summer. enjoy, for we are proud of it!!!!

this is a tighter (and gorier) version of pop a cap. i actually redid this from scratch. you'll notice that i took out a lot of the longer, dull dialogue and put in a bit more action

one of my advanced editing techniques projects involved taking found footage and using it to create a cohesive film. so i then decided to take a bunch of sex/drugs/tobacco/partying educational videos and turn it into a music video-ish parody.

the first in a series of silent films that me and the long island guys are going to do (chet "mango" cunha, rich "the stick" lee, jon "crazy horse" dawson, and now, chris "wiggles" john) i still find this one extremely funny, but it's pretty random, so it might not hit everyone else the same way hahaha

delirium - 11/2004-12/2004
these two videos were part of my 'design of interactive characters' final project. our group comprised of lindsey berard, john haggerty, laura kaplan, matt loehr, and me. to summarize, the game is about a dr named marti censsel who worked in troy hospital, a mental asylum specializing in schizophrenics. after years of working there, dr censsel one night gathers up all of the relatives of the patients and locks them in the hospital. he then releases all the patients and gives them access to scapels and all of the hospital's supplies. the first link is some sample in-game cutscenes, and the second link is some in-game interactive scenes

dying to do an action film that didn't have any dialogue, i rushed my friends to do this project right after the term ended. i should've waited and planned this project out (hadn't 'with honor' taught me ANYTHING??) this is glitzy and packed with some nice cinematic effects, but very shallow

i love the introduction to this film. the end is pretty good too. but that whole middle part was eh. chris john's character is great, but this film definitely needed more pre-production work

this film features a very young dan tran and chris john. this was actually one of the first times i hung out with chris outside of our 'media studio:visual/audio' class. this is a remake of an in-camera edit project and it was well-received
